Package Overview

Lake Chala fills a steep volcanic crater on Kilimanjaro's eastern edge, right on the border with Kenya. You look down on the turquoise water from the crater rim, often with baboons nearby, then walk down to paddle a canoe across the lake. Lunch is a picnic by the shore, and on clear afternoons the drive back gives some of the best views of Kilimanjaro's eastern side.

Highlights

  • Panoramic views from the crater rim
  • Canoeing on the lake
  • Baboons and birdlife
  • Kilimanjaro views on the drive back
